Our Carports

All of the carports that we provide are constructed of high grade steel. All of the roof panels are painted to provide a long-lasting finish, providing our customers with years of service. The framing system is tubular steel and has a galvanized finish. Out standard framing system is 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" 14 gauge square tube. We have an optional and heavier 12 gauge tube. All of our units 12' wide to 24' wide are equipped with peak braces and corner braces. Unlike many competing companies  that offer a 5' side height as their starting base price, we provide a minimum of 6' side height for the same price as their 5' tall car port. Type of Carports Provided

We can provide everything from basic carport shelters that are just the roof canopy only. We also provide options such as gable ends, side panels, and j-trims that provide additional protection from the elements while storing your vehicles. We can also provide taller carports for RVs, motorhomes and travel trailers and even carport shelters for equipment storage. We have side entry carports, carports with storage units built into them, and much more. Illustrated below are just a few of the types of structures that we provide.

How the Process Works

Placing the order for you carport shelter is simple and easy. You can order one of the many units in our online store or, if you prefer, you can call our toll-free number and one of our knowledgeable representatives will assist you in selecting the right unit that best fits your budget and your needs. Once you've selected your carport, we will sent the order over for your review. You will review your order to ensure we have everything correct, then you will place small down payment, usually between 10-15% of the purchase price, to get your order started. At that point, your order will begin it's journey into the manufacturing process.

The manufacturing only takes a few short days but in order to delivery your unit, we fill truckloads completely before we schedule units for your delivery area. That keeps our freight costs lower, and ultimately, your price lower. Normal order to delivery times are between 2 and 4 weeks. During peak demand, order delivery times may be as long as 6-12 weeks. Please feel free to check with us to determine the actualy delivery periods during the time of your order. Delivery periods can change as often as weekly!

One week prior to installation, our representatives will call you to schedule an appointment for delivery. Most units are installed in just a few hours since your metal carport unit is pre-built at the factory. Once your unit is installed, the balance of your order can be paid with check, money order, or credit card. It's really that easy.

Carports for Sale - Styles

We offer three basic styles in our roof canopies. Most company's that offer metal carports for sale have the most basic units starting on a 5' leg. Our starting leg or side height is 6' for the same price as their 5'!  We also provide a minimum of a 14 gauge galvanized steel frame along with painted steel panels and trim. Some companies use a lighter 15 or 16 gauge on their frame and those units have collapsed with only a light snowfall! Our units are built to perform and to last!

What About Options?

Do we ever have optional items that you can add to your carport to customize it to meet your specific need! With all of the low price carports for sale, you can add only what you need. We aren't like the automobile business that packages options together --you'll have to get the sun roof if you want those alloy wheels. We've all been through that. Over the years, we've heard those options cost money. Well of course they do! From Cardinal Carports, they are value priced and if you want them, we have them. Carport prices that are displayed below are price ranges for the southern states only. For Florida, and for the northern states, select to product and the drop-down menu for State, Guage, and Certification. The metal carport prices vary by state and by wind/snow load. Typically, the southern states carport prices will be less due to a lighter snow load. In the north and northeast, prices will vary due to snow load requirements up to 65 PSF. In Florida, the prices for carports vary based on with loads from 150 MPH to 180 PF.

Looking for accurate and current metal carport prices for your area? No problem! Prices will vary depending on size of the unit and the location where the carport will be installed, based on snow load and or wind load wind load, where required. In some areas, there are no building code requirements. In the southeastern United States, there is going to be a small snow load requirement. In the northeastern United States, snow load requirements can be up to 65 pounds per square foot. In Florida, wind load requirements can be up to 180 MPH. The greater the snow load or wind load, the greater the cost due to additional framing material requirements. All of our metal buildings are constructed with standard 14 gauge galvanized steel frame and 29 gauge panels. In Florida, we utilize 26 gauge steel panels due to wind-load requirements and in Michigan, our minimum frame gauge is 12 due to area snow loads. Our units have an incredibly efficient modular design with the flexibility to add a host of options. Points Covered in the Carport Buyer's Guide

Before you buy a carport, there are several factors that should be considered before making a final decision to ensure that you get exactly what you need and that you are satisfied with your selection for years to come! Factors to consider are:

Selecting the Roof System

The next step in selecting your carport are choosing unit roof system. We have three types of roof systems and they are defined and illustrated below. Using our Roof System Guide, you will have all of the information that you need to make the choice that's best for your needs and for your budget.

Selecting the Frame Gauge

Cardinal Carports offers 2 thickness choices on the galvanized framing systems. Our standard is a 14 gauge frame, which is .0747 inches/1.897 mm thick. We offer a heavier 12 gauge frame that is .1046 inches/2.657 mm thick. Either frame system can be non-certified or engineer certified. The is an extended warranty on our 12 gauge framing system and it is a stronger frame. Which is best for your application? Ultimately, the decision is yours. If you want the peace of mind with the extended warranty and/or the stronger frame, then the 12 gauge is the way to go.

Determining the Size of the Unit

The dimensions of the unit (width, length and height) are based on your need and what the planned use or function of the unit is going to be. Width Guide  12' wide is good for most single vehicle. 18' wide - (2) compact cars 20' wide- (2) mid-size cars 22' wide - (2) full-size cars 24' wide - (2) large vehicles 30' wide - (3) vehicles  Length Guide  Standard lengths are 21' 26', 31', 36' and longer in 5' increments. 21' and 26' long are ideal lengths for two cars. RVs, boats, campers, etc. will require longer units. A good best practice is to consider the length of your unit and add 5' to determine the minimum carport length. Side Height Guide The side height is measured on the side wall and not at the center or apex of the unit. You will want to ensure that the unit's side height is tall enough for your car, truck, camper or RV. Should you ever plan to enclose the unit, add enough space for garage door height and clearance.  If you are unsure about any of the dimensions, call us and one of our experienced team members can assist you in selecting the right one for your needs.

Other Options to Consider

With carports, there are several available options. Side Walls - The sides can be left open or one or more panels can be placed on the side wall, or the side can be closed to the ground for additional protection from rain and sun. Also, adding panels to the side walls makes the carport more rigid and strengthens the unit, end-to-end. End Walls - The end walls can be left open or have optional gable ends, extended gables, or can be closed to the ground. Gables add to the appearance of the unit, hiding the roofing framework. They also provide additional shelter on the ends of the unit as well as make the structure stronger and more rigid, side-to-side J-Trim - Panels on the side walls and gables on the end wall are left un-trimmed on the bottom. J-trim can be added to the bottom of the panels for both appearance and for safety. We recommend J-trim on any panel edge that is 3' - 7' in clearance height and will will be exposed to foot-traffic.
